Hi! We’re the faces behind the Mad Ratters – get to know us!

Ashleigh – Owner/Handler
I’ve been in the dog world for over 20 years in various capacities – as a dog sled guide, a boarding facility employee, a dog sitter, and of course, a dog owner! I have also worked in agriculture since 2019 in supply chain and integrated pest management roles. I was inspired to take the leap for the Mad Ratters when, while talking to farmers, I realized that the Okanagan has a large rat problem that’s only growing and that with my combination of experience, I could provide a unique answer.

Otis – Canine Pest Controller
Otis is a male red and white Rat Terrier, born on June 30th 2023. He weighs 28 lbs and is extremely athletic. This feisty character is smart, sneaky, and loves to cuddle.
Otis’ role is that of a Marker – he excels in locating areas where vermin are active and will show the other dogs where to hunt, or the handlers where to leave traps if necessary.
Likes: chicken, playing ball
Dislikes: being too warm

Pippin – Canine Pest Controller
Pippin is a female chocolate tri-color Rat Terrier. She was born on August 1, 2023. She is 18 lbs and can run like the wind! Her agility and smaller size make her excellent at jumping to high surfaces or fitting into small spaces. She loves to be with people she knows well.
Pippin’s role is that of the Chaser. With her speed and ability to turn on a dime, there is rarely a rodent that can outrun her!
Likes: sitting in laps, treats
Dislikes: mornings

Preacher – Canine Pest Controller
Preacher is a black tuxedo tri-color male Rat Terrier. He was born on April 4th, 2024, and weighs 30 lbs. He has a big personality to match his stockier build, and absolutely loves people and dogs.
His role with the Ratters is that of the Hunter. He has a strong jaw and is very keen on the catch, and dispatches rats the fastest out of our pack.
Likes: chewing bones, food
Dislikes: being moved when asleep
